How much funding are required before HK Shares Margin Account holders can start trading?

For margin clients, all Hong Kong stocks (excluding rights and warrants) will be accepted for margin trading by depositing the fund according to the margin ratio. You can login and refer to our Margin Grading for the respective margin ratios of the stocks.

What is the EBSI Direct Normal Margin Scheme?

Normal Margin Scheme
Customers will be entitled to 70% margin financing for high grade stocks (which includes all Hang Seng Index constituent stocks and other large cap stocks), as well as 50% margin financing for medium grade stocks. You can login and refer to our Margin Grading for the respective margin ratios of the stocks.

How can I find the margin requirements for stock options?

The amount of margin requirement for an individual client portfolio is calculated on a real-time basis by using industrial standard, SPAN, and varies under different conditions. You may refer to the margin table of the stock options section on the HKEx website for an estimated margin requirement for each stock option contract.
