How do I deposit funds to my trading account opened with EBSI Direct?

You can deposit funds via Electronic Direct Debit Authorization (eDDA) which allows bank account holders to transfer funds real-time from bank account to our trading account in 7x24 modes. And you can also deposit funds via the deposit methods below. The account from which the transfer is made must be held in your name. EBSI Direct does not accept cash or third-party deposits (i.e. deposits not made by the account holder and which include but not limited to transfers, remittances, and cheque deposits). If a cash or third-party deposit is identified, EBSI Direct may return the funds to the depositor/originating bank account with bank charges, if applicable, deducted.

Note: Client(s) with "Online Application - Electronic Signature" account(s) must use your registered Designed Bank Account's online banking to complete deposit. For any other fund deposit channels such as ATM and PPS, you may expect delay or return of funds. (Return of funds takes 7 to 14 business days) Please refer to 6. CHATs/ TT Remittance deposit method below.


After making deposits, please inform us as soon as possible by following the instructions below:

  1. Log into your account via EBSI Direct’s website (www.ebshkdirect.com)
  2. Click “HK Shares” under “Trading”. Go to "Forms" > "Funds Transfer" on the trading platform.
  3. Complete and submit the Funds Deposit Notification Form.
  4. Provide the account holder name and account number on the deposit slip.
  5. Email the deposit slip to us at enquiry@ebshkdirect.com or send it via Whatsapp at +852 5299 0559.

  1. Log into your account via eMO! or EBSI Direct's website
  2. Go to "eDDA" (for eMO!) or "Funds Deposit (eDDA)" (for EBSI Direct's website)
  3. Press “Add your eDDA Bank Account”
  4. Accept the T&C by pressing “Close” button
  5. Choose your bank
  6. Input your bank account no.;
  7. Set your max daily transfer limit
  8. Tick the tick box to accept the T&C; Press “Continue” button
  9. Double check the setup details and Confirm
  10. After setup, select your deposit bank and press “Deposit now”
  11. Select your trading account, and enter your transfer amount, then press “Continue”
  12. Double check the deposit details and press “Confirm”
  13. When the transaction is accepted, SMS and email will be sent and the fund is immediately available in your trading account

Hang Seng Bank (HSB)
  1. Please visit any branch of HSB to register your trading account number and set your daily transfer limit for the category “Securities Broker” in Bill Payment Services.
  2. Call HSB’s Phone Banking Service to perform Bill Payment Services via your bank account.
  3. When prompted, enter Merchant Code “1019” and Bill Type “02”.
  4. Select your trading account number.
  5. Key in the amount you wish to transfer.
  6. The daily transfer limit setup varies with HSB account holders. Please check with any HSB branch.
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC)
  1. Please visit any branch of HSBC to set your daily transfer limit for the category “Securities Brokers” in Bill Payment Services.
  2. Call HSBC's Phone Banking Service to perform Bill Payment Services via your bank account.
  3. Press “3” for Transfer and Bill Payment and then press “3” again for Bill Payments
  4. Press “7” for “Securities broker”
  5. Press “7” for more merchants until you hear “ Everbright Securities International EBSI
  6. Press the number of “ Everbright Securities International EBSI
  7. Select Bill Type “0 2”.
  8. Key in your trading account number as Bill Account Number and follow the phone instructions to complete the payment.

  1. Register your EBSI Segregated Deposit Account with SCB at any SCB branch for Third Party Transfers.
  2. Call SCB’s Phone Banking service to perform Third Party Transfers services via your bank account.
  3. When prompted, enter your SCB Segregated Deposit Account Number.
  4. Key in the amount you wish to transfer.

  1. Please visit any branch of HSB to register your trading account number and set your daily transfer limit for the category “Brokers” in Bill Payment Services.
  2. Log into HSB e-Banking Service. Go to “Bill Payment”. Click “Pay Bills”.
  3. Select your registered trading account number under “Payee”. 
  4. Select “0 2 Everbright Securities Digital Finance (HK) Limited ” as “Bill Type”.
  5. Enter the amount you wish to transfer.

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC)
  1. Please visit any branch of HSBC to set your daily transfer limit for the category “Securities Brokers” in Bill Payment Services.
  2. Log into the HSBC’s Internet Banking Service. Go to “My Banking”. Click “Bill Payment”.
  3. When making payment for the first time, please click “New payee” in the “Move money to” tab. Select “Bill payment” for “Transfer type” filed. Select “Everbright Securities International EBSI ” in the “Payee”. Select “0 2 Everbright Securities Digital Finance (HK) Limited ” as “Bill type”. Enter your trading account number as your Bill Payee Account Number.
  4. For registered bill payments, select the registered Bill Payee Account Number under “My Payees” list.
  5. Enter the amount you wish to transfer.

Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK)
  1. Log into BOCHK’s Internet Banking Service. Go to “My Bill List” in “Bill Payment” and click “Pay New Bill”.
  2. Under the merchant category of “Securities Broker”, click into “ Everbright Securities Digital Finance (HK) Limited ” under “Merchant Name”.
  3. Input your trading account number as payment reference number bill number.
  4. Enter the amount you wish to transfer. Please check your daily payment limit before payment.
  5. You are required to use two-factor authentication for confirmation when submitting the payment instructions for the first time. Once finished, the bill will be registered automatically for future payments.

Standard Chartered Bank (SCB)
  1. Please visit any branch of SCB to register your EBSI Segregated Deposit Account with SCB.
  2. Log into SCB’s Online Banking platform. Select “Third Party Transfers” in “Transfer” section.
  3. Select your pre-registered SCB Segregated Deposit Account Number and enter transfer amount.

Bank of China (Hong Kong) (BOCHK)
  1. Select your chosen account type.
  2. Press “Transfer”.
  3. Enter BOCHK’s designated bank account number 012-875-0-029900-8 to transfer the funds.
  4. Enter the amount you wish to transfer.
  5. After making the transfer, please mark your trading account number on the transfer advice and fax it to us at +852 3920 2082 and submit the online Funds Deposit Notification Form for verification. 
  6. Failure to do so will cause delay of your fund deposit to your trading account.
Standard Chartered Bank (SCB)
  1. Press “Transfer”.
  2. Select your personal payment account.
  3. Enter your SCB Segregated Deposit Account Number.
  4. Enter the amount you wish to transfer.

Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) via PPS

Transfer of funds initiated from EBSI website
  1. Log into your account via  EBSI's website.
  2. Click “HK Shares” in “Trading” to launch the Trading Platform.
  3. Click the “Action Forms” tab.
  4. Click the “Funds” tab.
  5. Click “Funds Deposit – iPPS”.
  6. Key in the amount you wish to transfer.
  7. Key in the trading password of your EBSI account and submit.
  8. Finally, key in your PPS account number and password then submit.
  9. Check your mobile phone for the one-time password required by two-factor authentication^.
  10. Key in the one-time password and proceed.

Transfer of funds initiated from PPS website or PPS IVRS service From PPS website

  1. Log into PPS website (https://www.ppshk.com).
  2. Click “Add Bill”.
  3. Search by Merchant Name “ Everbright Securities International EBSI ” or Merchant Code “9236” and press “Go”.
  4. Enter your EBSI trading account number as your “Bill Number”. Check your mobile phone for the one-time password required for two-factor authentication^.
  5. Click “Pay Bill”.
  6. Choose Bill Type “2 - Everbright Securities Digital Finance (HK) Limited ”. Enter payment amount and submit.

Using PPS phone service

  1. Call PPS phone channel on 18013 to register bill
  2. Press “1” for bill registration
  3. Enter your PPS Account Number
  4. Enter Merchant Code “9236”.
  5. Enter your EBSI Direct trading account number as your “Bill Number”.
  6. The Bill Registration has been completed.
  7. Call PPS phone channel on 18033 to initiate the transfer of funds.
  8. Enter your PPS IVRS password when prompted.
  9. Enter Merchant Code “9236”.
  10. Enter your account number.
  11. Choose Bill Type “2 - Everbright Securities Digital Finance (HK) Limited ”.
  12. Enter payment amount and submit the request.

  1. The daily maximum transfer amount of PPS is HK$ 100,000 and subject to your registered bank account limit. Please contact your registered bank for details.
  2. Transfers submitted via PPS before 7:00 pm will be deposited to your trading account on the next business day. Transfer submitted after 7:00 pm will be deposited to your trading account on the next second business day

Can I still use the EFT service if I do not have a PPS account?

Only customers with PPS accounts are eligible to use this service. However, if you do not have a PPS account, opening one is simple. PPS registration terminals are readily available all over Hong Kong. Please visit the PPS website for details on the location of these terminals.

Do I need to provide any information when I deposit funds?

Yes. Please refer to the information provided in the “Deposit Guidelines”. After logging into EBSI Direct’s website, please click “Profile” on the navigation menu, then click “Deposit Guidelines” and select your securities trading account number (if applicable) to view the deposit information including our merchant name “ Everbright Securities International ”, merchant code “1019”, bill type “02” and your trading account number as bill account number/payment reference number. 

You will be required to provide deposit information including our merchant name, merchant code, bill type and bill account number/payment reference number when you deposit funds (cash or cheque) to HSB or BOCHK and your account balance will be updated as soon as possible. To ensure smooth trading, please complete the deposit before trading.

Also, your Segregated Deposit Account Name and Account Number can be found in “Deposit Guidelines”. Please provide your Segregated Deposit Account Name and Account Number when you deposit funds (cash or cheque) to SCB and your account balance will be updated as soon as possible. After making a deposit, how soon will the funds be reflected in my account?

If you initiated the transfer from EBSI Direct website, your funds will be reflected in your account on the same day. However, if the transfer of funds was initiated from the PPS website or via its IVRS service, your funds will only be reflected in your account one day after the transaction has been processed. Please refer to the cut-off times below for an indication on processing times.

Will I receive interest from the funds deposited?

Yes. The money standing to the credit of your account is interest-bearing (the same as the interest rate for SCBs savings account).

What is the daily deposit limit for the Easy Deposit Service?

HSB/BOC

  • It depends on the arrangement between you and your bank.


SCB
  • HK$500,000 for phone banking and internet banking.
  • HK$10,000 for ATMs.
  • SCB does not impose any deposit limit on transferred funds, which are decided by the third party.

What is EBSI's Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) service?

EBSI's Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) service is another channel for customers to deposit funds into their trading accounts. This step followed EBSI's subscription to EPSCOs electronic payment services. It is hoped the addition of this service by EBSI will offer greater convenience to customers.

No. This service is absolutely free for all EBSI customers. Any cost incurred for this service is borne by EBSI.

Is there a daily maximum/minimum transfer amount for the EFT service?

The maximum amount you may transfer per day is HK$100,000 while the minimum is HK$1.

How can I deposit money to my EBSDFHK account via the bill payment services of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited ('HSBC')?

Deposit can be made to your EBSDFHK account via HSBC through any of the following bill payment service channels:

  • Personal internet banking bill payment services
  • Automated Teller Machines (ATMs)
  • Phone banking bill payment services
  • Cheque deposit machines in Hong Kong (Please select 'Bill Payment', click 'Brokers', then select 'Everbright Securities International' and click Bill type '02 Everbright Securities Digital Finance (HK) Limited' )
  • Branch counters in Hong Kong


Please provide the designated merchant account name, merchant code (i.e. merchant code '1019' and the bill type '02') and payment reference number of your EBSDFHK account when you deposit funds via any of the above channels so that we can identify your deposit. Your deposit will be credited to your account on the same business day (except Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays) if the deposit is made before 4:00pm, the cut-off time for accepting deposit notifications. The deposit will also be reflected in your account balance once the process is completed.

Notes:
  1. All deposit notifications received after 4:00pm will be processed the next working day.
  2. For any late credits due to non-receipt of the deposit notifications before 4:00pm on the day of deposit, you may suffer from overdraft interest and any late settlement penalties.
  3. To use HSBC bill payment services for fund transfer to your EBSDFHK account, you will need to setup a daily transaction limit with HSBC first. For details, please contact HSBC directly to complete the application.
  4. HSBC bill payment services for fund transfer to your EBSDFHK account is in HK dollars denominator. For any non-HK dollars deposit, you may suffer from the loss of conversion rate.

What is the cut-off time for depositing cheques?

To make a cheque deposit, please deposit before 4:00pm, the cut-off time imposed by banks. Otherwise it will be treated as a 'Late Cheque Deposit', meaning we will receive the money in the morning of the following working day.

What are the cut-off times if I initiate transfers from the PPS website or PPS IVRS service?

The cut-off times for initiating transfers from the PPS website/IVRS service are as follows:

Mon - Fri : Transactions carried out before 4:00pm will be processed on the same day. Transactions performed after 4:00pm will be processed on the following working day*.

Sat, Sun and public holidays : These are non-working days. Transactions carried out on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be processed on the following working day*.
* Funds will only be reflected in your account one day after the processing date.

Example 1 : If you deposited funds on Saturday at 6:00pm, the transaction will be processed on Monday (since Saturday and Sunday are non-working days) and the funds will only be reflected in your account on Tuesday (one day after the processing date).

Example 2 : If you deposited funds on Tuesday at 3:00pm (before the cut-off time), the transaction will be processed on the same day but the funds will only be reflected in your account on Wednesday.

What are the cut-off times if I initiate transfers from EBSI Direct's website?

The cut-off times for initiating transfers from EBSI Direct's websites are as follows:

You are required to deposit sufficient funds to your account one day before the closing date.

There are two ways to deposit funds:

  • Deposit funds to the Segregated Deposit Account that we opened for you with Standard Chartered Bank; or
  • Deposit funds to our other designated bank accounts.

How do I deposit funds to my stock options trading account?

  1. Please deposit funds into your HK shares account with Everbright Securities Digital Finance (HK) Limited You can deposit funds to your HK shares account through multiple channels. For further details, please click here.
  2. Then fill in the Funds Deposit Form in our website to inform us.
  3. Provide the account holder name and account number on the deposit slip. Email the deposit slip to us at enquiry@ebshkdirect.com or send the deposit slip via Whatsapp +852 5299 0559.
  4. After your funds has been deposited into your HK shares account, please fill the Funds Transfer form to transfer the funds to your stock options account.

Do I need to pay a deposit before I trade?

Before trading stock option contracts online, you should ensure that 100% of the margin has been deposited in your account.

Futures

How do I deposit funds to my trading account opened with CES Commodities (HK) Limited?

You can deposit funds to your futures trading account using any of the methods. Deposits in HKD can be made through various channels as stated below, but USD deposit can only be made through Standard Chartered Bank to your Trust Deposit Account. The account from which the transfer is made must be held in your name. EBSI Direct does not accept cash or third-party deposits (i.e. deposits not made by the account holder and which include but not limited to transfers, remittances, and cheque deposits). If a cash or third-party deposit is identified, EBSI Direct may return the funds to the depositor/originating bank account with bank charges, if applicable, deducted.

Do I need to provide any information when I deposit funds?

After logging into EBSI Direct’s website, please click “Profile” on the navigation menu, then click “Deposit Guidelines” and select your futures trading account number (if applicable) to view the deposit information including merchant name “ Everbright Securities International”, merchant code “1019”, bill type “03” and your trading account number as bill account number/payment reference number.

You will be required to provide the deposit information including our merchant name, merchant code, and bill account number/payment reference number when you deposit funds (cash or cheque) to HSB or BOCHK and your account balance will be updated as soon as possible. To ensure smooth trading, please complete the deposit before trading.

Also, your Segregated Deposit Account Name and Account Number can be found in “Deposit Guidelines”. What is the cut-off time for depositing cheques?

To make a cheque deposit, please ensure that it is made before 4:00pm (cut-off time imposed by the bank). Otherwise it will be treated as a Late Cheque Deposit and will be processed the next working day.

There is no standard cut-off time for dropping cheques into the banks collection box, as the collection period and account balance updates are subject to the individual banks policies.

Shall I receive interest from the funds deposited?

Yes. The excess credit balance (after the deduction of the margin requirement and the unrealised profit and loss) in your account is interest bearing (the same as the interest rate for SCBs savings account).
